Kenneth Greatorex, as I knew him
by John R. Gavazzoni
I first met my dear friend and brother in Christ, Kenneth Greatorex, on my first trip to Ontario, Canada to minister to the little fellowship there sponsored by what was then Greater Emmanuel International Apostolic Ministries. I had come at the invitation of brother Alan McSavage having become, before we met personally, a regular contributor to the GEIAM web site.
It was, as I recall, the second meeting of that weekend in a room at the local YMCA, that I met Kenneth, spoke to him briefly before the meeting began, and later during the course of the meeting as opportunity was given for anyone wishing to share a word with the group that Kenneth's brief message drew my very focused attention to him. It was a moment still framed in my mind to this day many years later.
His bearing seemed to me to be like a shy, unassuming, older gentlemen with a sort of English gentleman's bearing---later revealed a delightful sense of humor. I liked him right away. We connected in a special way from that time on, and went on to enjoying a fellowship in the gospel mostly in cyberspace via e-mails back and forth, I would say nearly every day right up to the very day he laid aside his mortal tabernacle.
For a brother of really vast experience in the things of the Lord, an observer with keen discernment of the Spirit's work within a current of vital restorationism, he remained a disciple (learner) all his life. I was struck by his genuine humility, his insistent spirit to know more and more clearly those things pertaining to the kingdom of God, and of the Lord Jesus Christ. It seems so trite to say so, but I will, and already do, miss him keenly.
But I can't leave off speaking of Kenneth without including the experience---and that's what it was, an experience---of meeting his beloved wife Dale. Jan, my beloved, was with me on that first ministry trip to Ontario, and we both spoke of the delight of meeting, of experiencing Dale, the lady of a different, perfectly stylish hat for every occasion. Underneath those hats were eyes that always smiled with a hint of mischievous.
Kenneth, I know, will continue in the work of the Lord with us from "the other side," and I expect to feel his presence at times in the union of Spirit that we have in Christ.

Kenneth was a dear friend whom we had never met except by phone and Internet. I dialogued with him daily, enjoying his wit and sense of humor, his spiritual acumen, and his common sense observations about the world. We shared a similar view of politics and had a number of laughs about that. I miss him every day since I could always count on him to "be there" when I had something to share. Many times I have thought to e-mail him a comment, but soon realized that where he is, he knows as he is known and thus does not need e-mail. He has spirit-mail now.
He often teased me about being a woman preacher and then would end with, "Go for it, Saint Jan." I look forward to a joyous reunion in heaven and am so enriched because he was my friend. And now, like so many, we rejoice that he is perfectly healed, whole, and a part of our "cloud of witnesses," cheering us on from the other side. Thank you Lord, for Kenneth.

Like Jan, I never met Kenneth in the flesh, but I knew him well in the spirit. He was a friend and a respected elder in the body of Christ. I valued his opinions and hold him in great honor.
It was through Kenneth that first my translations of the New Testament, and later my writings, became available on this GEIM website. He proofread everything before having them posted, and this led to many fruitful discussions. I loved his sense of humor, and I treasure the many times of encouragement and support – along with his wealth of wisdom and understanding of the Word.
We would at times compare the many changes and adjustments that Father had made in our paths, over the years. We would laugh about formerly held doctrines and past "church" experiences. I love him deeply. I miss him.

My deepest condolences to Ken's family. I know you rejoice for His "gain" as Paul would say, but I know you will miss HIs loving presence in your midst. His legacy lives on in His writings. What beautiful feet (Rom 10:15) this brother has! He left the world a much greater place for having sojourned among us. "May the God of Hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing; may you abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit" (Rom 15:13). May God comfort and strengthen all HIs loved ones.

Kenneth was someone I never met but felt from the beginning, which was only nine or ten years ago, as though I had known longer because I recognized the positive aspects of my own Pentecostal background--but expanded in Kenneth with the joy and understanding of all the additional light God had revealed to him. We experienced his Christlike spirit in the loving way he connected with folks. He was right there when Scripture was being discussed, adding his wisdom. The news of his passing saddened me, especially for his wife and family, though I rejoice for him. A precious brother, much missed.
