"The Parousia of Christ"
Part One
By Scott Paris

"The Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels, and then he shall reward every man according to his works. "Verily I say unto you, There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom." Matt 16:28

The religious world is clothed in interpretative shadows and darkness. Jesus and His apostles all taught that Christ's coming (presence-appearing) - (Parousia in Greek) was "near at hand." A few times Jesus is recorded in the gospels saying, "that the generation His disciples lived in would not pass away till all these things be fulfilled." Matt. 24:34.

When Jesus was brought before the high priest Caiphas and the elders, Caiphas demanded of Jesus, "I adjure thee by the living God, that thou tell us whether thou be the Christ, the Son of God. Jesus saith unto him, Thou hast said: nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter shall ye see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming (parousia) in the clouds of heaven. Matt 26:63-64.

Matt 26:63-64

Christ came in the clouds of Pentecost in power and great glory, as the prophets predicted. Acts 2:4. And those clouds are: "Such a great cloud of witnesses, we are compassed about with." Heb.12:1 "Who are these that fly as a cloud, and as doves to their windows?" Isaiah 60: 8. The sons of God is who they are. I hope we get back to that chapter later, glory to our Father.

"And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord comes with myriads of his holy ones." Jude 14. Those are the same "clouds of witnesses" in Heb.12:1. And we are witnesses of Messiah's resurrection, for He lives in us.

"All these things shall come upon this generation." Matt. 24: 34. Meaning the destruction of Jerusalem, thirty seven years after His departure, in 70 AD. The apostles lived to record what He said to them. He kept to the letter His promise to return, stating it just prior to His ascension. And there was a very short interval between the former and latter.

The incredulity of modern theologians teaching that Jesus coming is future casts an eye on His integrity. They believe the Lord's coming is a physical coming, when it is a spiritual parousia. He has been coming - appearing for over two thousand years to individuals who believe in His divinity-the Son of God!

In Matt. 23:36, 24:34 Jesus said, "Verily I say to you, This generation shall not pass away until all these things be fulfilled." Futurist teachers insist that generation spoken of here means (race). And that it means the Jews would not pass away until all things He, spoke of in His prediction. Also they teach error saying, the word "generation", "race" (of Jews) in a far off future time would be alive when these things come to pass." But Jesus in fact predicted a spiritual fulfilment in His disciples on the day of Pentecost when He came upon them in the "upper room", and tongues like as of fire sat upon each of them. Acts 2: 3, 4. And they spoke in other tongues as the Spirit gave them words to speak. These were not tongues or languages spoken out of their own human understanding. But "as the Spirit gave them words to speak." Acts 2:4, 10:46.

Saints, the secrets of the Father is to be trumpeted to very nation of the existence of mankind. He is supreme and is delighted to manifest His majestic splendour in His sons. He is Spirit, yet spoke the world and all physical and material into existence. He has shrouded Himself mysteriously within it. He remains veiled to the majority of those professing Jesus Christ as Saviour.

From Matthew to Revelation there is not a single verse teaching that Christ's coming is any other than the non-physical, spiritual parousia of Christ. When Jesus was telling His disciples of His return at Pentecost, he also predicted the destruction of Jerusalem. It happened in AD 70 when the Roman Emperor Vespasian gave his son Titus charge of armies of soldiers to go to Judea in AD 69, after service in Britain and Germany. It happened precisely just as Jesus predicted. The city was burned to the ground, and not one stone was left on another. That was the end of a dead Judaizing sacrificial priesthood, the Old covenant Law!

Multitudes today are trying to keep old covenant law. Some former religious truths are only flickering sparks now. At best they are a system of philosophical thought, making its appeal to the indifferent. Who can be happy with the traditionalists that keep saying in each meeting that "Jesus is coming soon?" If that is our stance we'll keep the Lord standing among the "candlesticks" of revelation.

Glorifying the Pentecostal initial flow as the ultimate in Christ, believers are living in a past tradition! One point of truth is theologians and preachers have backed up and changed the place of Christ's appearance from us, individually, and teach that He will come in the earthly territory of Jerusalem. Are you counting on an inflated plane ticket to visit that wonder there? They can only see the logical human side of the Word.

I am not being blasphemous, the Holy Spirit is gradually erasing the past to introduce Jesus Christ who is not coming alone to a single group or denomination as He is now coming with the Father to this humongous ingathering, that includes the salvation of all nations. Therein their precious spiritual fruit is being transformed into rich spiritual nectar that penetrates all creation. We are being "Raptured" now, arising in the Father's likeness, and meeting Him now "at His coming," parousia. Paul said, "Now henceforth we know Christ no more after the flesh." 2 Cor. 5:16.

Jesus predicted several times that His "coming" (parousia-presence-the same in Greek) would occur in His disciples contemporary generation. His coming was and is for all time spiritual. He came in the clouds of Pentecost in power and great glory as the "Holy Spirit," and "Spirit of Christ." There is much scriptural controversy on the interpretation of the bible today. One thinks that this was divinely purposed so that believers would wait on the Lord Himself for enlightenment.

Hal Lindsey in 1970 wrote in "The Late Great Planet Earth" that "This generation" spoken of by Jesus in Matt.24:34 could mathematically come about in 1988. And claims that no one knows the exact time of Jesus return Mark 12:32. That is true, Lindsey goes on, "You can know the generation. Matt.24:34, this generation means the generation in which it first begins to be recognized that we are living in the last days. The generation which sees Israel (the fig tree sign) of verse 32 back in the land of Palestine - this is the chief sign." Then he made a statement that, "I feel certain that it (Rapture) will take place before the year 2000." Paul wrote about Israel being the "good olive tree." Rom. 11:17, 24.

Two evangelists had many thousands of believers thinking Jesus was coming, one in 1988, and the other in 1994. They both had nation wide TV programs. The first in Little Rock, Arkansas. The other in Oakland, California. The one in Little Rock wrote a book, "88 reasons why Jesus is coming in 88." People read the book and quit their jobs and sold their homes, and waited for Jesus to come. The evangelist got super rich. He even gave the date of Jesus return. Our son in law's sister called him and said, "I am calling to say, "good bye." Our son in law asked, "where are you going?" She told him that Jesus was coming tomorrow." And told him that she had read the book "88 reasons why Jesus is coming in 88." He had heard of it, and he tried to get her to come over and talk to me, as she lived about 15 miles from us. But she would's do it. I think that after the date was passed and no coming of Jesus, she quit going to church.

I was in touch with the evangelist, and even sent him my writings, and refuted him on his book. After the Lord didn't come as he expected, he sent me a new book updating his speculations. It had written across the front, "Jesus is coming" with each year written smaller, and smaller, and the last one was barely visible. The years were from 1998 to about 1998. I think it is still around here somewhere. No one believed him anymore. The other in Oakland, I didn't try contacting him. On TV he looked as if he was nearly asleep.

The apostles of Jesus lacked spiritual enlightenment when their new day arrived. The Good News was too soon and too radical for them. I know from interaction with others that what I am announcing is too soon and too radical for them!

"Behold I send my messenger. And he shall prepare the way before me. And the Lord whom you seek, will suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant (New), in whom you delight . Behold, he is coming, says the Lord of hosts. Mal. 3:1.

The Lord whom you sought, suddenly came to His temple (any and all of you at your new birth). Now, "You are my witnesses, says the Lord." Plus when you are in the Spirit, you are the voice of God! Christ returns to indwell you, His and Father's habitation. Eph. 2:21, 22, Rev. 21:3, John 14:20 Emphatic Diaglott.

Beloved, you can rise now as we are listening to new voices that are emerging. These are Spirit filled, anointed, mobilized to give new breath to the body of Christ as Ezekiel prophesied to the "dry bones," the breath of the Spirit is now breathing new life into His saints. Rejoice in Him.

"And he said unto them, Assuredly, I say to you that there are some standing here that shall not taste of death till they see the kingdom of God come with power." Mark 9:1. This is one of several times that Jesus specified what generation that He would come in. Those standing there that Jesus spoke to, saw and realized Jesus appearing in reality on the Day of Pentecost with power and great glory. Acts 2. Peter assured them that what they were witnessing and realizing was the coming to pass, what Joel the prophet said, "I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh, your sons and daughters shall prophecy, your old men shall dream dreams, and your young men shall see visions, also on my maidservants I will pour out my Spirit in those days." Joel 2:28, 29, Acts 2:17-21.

Beloved, your and, creation's day of full deliverance has come. None can stand mute as Christ hands them the golden sceptre of the kingdom. I am humbled in His presence. Mans human efforts and his pen are too frail to expand on Father's majestic truths. No one can understand translation but a translated one. In Christ's presence and this Raptured plane words are not used. The Holy Spirit, announcing these priceless jewels, has His own flawless voice that leaps on us a rushing mighty wind. His advancing presence seals us with singing, praising and worship in spirit and truth on a higher dimension than heretofore we having been aware of! Our spirit surely is to have a new day anointing that glorifies all people and nations on a higher Spirit enlightenment.

Christ Jesus coming (parousia) on the Day of Pentecost as Holy Spirit, filling those in the upper room with Himself, there the Father inaugurated His Son King in His invisible glory and establishing His kingdom in our hearts. "Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, to God who alone is wise, be honor and glory forever. Amen." 1 Tim. 1:17. King invisible?? We know our King is worthy of our love and praise.

The Preterist's erroneously teach that Jesus return was in 70 AD when general Titus razed Jerusalem. Does its destruction and slaughter sound like Jesus coming in the glory of God in power and Glory? The Preterist's interpret the scriptures in a literal sense. I have read some of their teachings, and have not read where they teach that Christ comes to reside in His own. Col. 1:27, John.14:1-2, 2 Cor.13:5, etc. They seem to think of God as one who isn't content unless His vengeance is poured out in destruction.

One day Jesus and His disciples entered a Samaritan village to make ready for Him, and the Samaritans didn't receive Him. James and John asked Jesus if they should call fire down and consume them as Elijah did? But Jesus rebuked them, saying, "You know not what spirit you are of. For the Son of man came not to destroy men's lives, but to save them." Luke 9: 52-55. Jesus predicted the destruction of Jerusalem and wept over her inhabitants, but I see no indication that He willed the city's destruction in 70 AD. But He knew it in His Spirit.

Christ "Came" and preached peace to you who were far off, and to them who were near. For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father." Eph. 2:17,18. Christ "came" and comes preaching peace even when we were far off. He is not mad at you, His approval is on you as is His favor. No merits of our own wins God's unconditional favor. "He came (non physically ) preaching peace to you."

"Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying Behold, the Lord comes with myriads of his saints." Jude 14. "These all, having a good report through faith, received not the promise: God having foreseen some better thing for us, that they without us could not be made perfect. "Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about (surrounded) by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every impediment." Heb. 11:39, 40, 12:1.

The saints of the O.T. accompanied the Lord at His non-physical return at Pentecost when He came in the power and glory of His kingdom. This was revealed to me, and it is an astonishing realization. We had meetings in our home every Sunday for 11 years. Once in worship and praise to the Lord, suddenly there appeared to me Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob and all those of Hebrews Eleven, plus myriads of unnamed saints of all ages, standing about the throne of God worshipping Him in unity of the Spirit as one. In the vision I knew who was who, but as it lifted, I wasn't conscious of those ones. Then the Lord reminded me of His saying" "I say unto you, that many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven." Matt. 8: 11.

Dear brothers and sisters, we are compassed about with "so great a cloud of witnesses" who are heavenly inhabitants, accompanying Christ in His second coming with all the hosts of heaven. And you are witnesses of His intimate love and, salvation and near relationship with Him! "O the depth of his riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God: how unreachable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out! For who has known the mind of the Lord? or who has been his counsellor? Or who has first given to him, and it shall be recompensed to him again? For of him, and through him, and to him, and to him, are all things" to him be glory for ever. Amen. Rom. 11: 33-36. All came out of God, all goes through God, all returns to God. All is of God. "You are the offspring of God."

"I beheld till the thrones were cast down, and the ancient of days did sit, whose garment was white as snow, and the hair on his head like pure wool: his throne was like firey flame, and his wheels as burning fire. A fiery stream issued and came forth from before him: thousands ministered to him (the sons of God), and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him: The judgment was set, and the books were opened." Dan. 7:9, 10.

Man's thrones are cast down, only the throne of Christ, the ancient of days is omnipotent - is all ruling. His garment of righteousness (that we are clothed in) is white as snow. The hair on His head is pure wool-omniscient (all knowing). His throne like the fiery flame, His wheels as burning fire. Yes, a flaming fire (pur) is around Him. "Our God is a consuming fire (pur)." Heb. 12:29. "He makes his angels (messengers) spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire." 1:7.

"The books were opened." Saints, you are the books. You are the epistles of Christ, known and read of all men, written not in ink, but with the Spirit of the living God. Not in tablets of stone (Mosaic law), but in the fleshly tablets of the heart." 2 Cor. 3:2, 3. Beloved, it is not in the five senses, it is the "law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus" in our inner Man. How wonderful that Christ has returned to establish us in Him in this marvellous wonder. It is a "hidden mystery" known by a few of His dear ones who have "come unto full age." The Seed of God is in us who are birthed in and of the Spirit word. 1 Pet. 1:23.

Jesus said to the Pharisee's, "The kingdom of God does not come with outward signs of visible display, the kingdom of God is in you." Luke 17: 20, 21. We must quit thinking that particular races or geographical areas are the kingdom of God. Denominational Christendom only knows Jesus after the flesh. Like Israel under the Mosaic Law, who wanted a natural king over them. Preachers and theologians have taught for over a century that Jesus is to come physically and sit on a throne in a man made temple (hieron) in modern Jerusalem. But He has appeared as "Spirit Christ," and "The Christ Spirit," taking up His residence in His temple (naos) not made with hands. While Christendom sleeps spiritually thousands of Spirit born believers, sons of God, hid away-who are conscious of "present truth." Present truth is now being whispered to us by Father now!

You who fellowship Father in Spirit and truth are now rising in Him into a new ministry that is not just talking about Christ, but are presenting Him on a higher dimension. You are receiving new revelations for this new day and hour. We were taught that there would be no complete victory for us until we were Raptured away by and by. It is revealed to us by our "One Teacher" even Christ that this hour is truly the Spirit of resurrection, lifting us into His transfiguration. This is our every hour conscious rest. Beloved, the glory that is now present to fill the saints as they live and walk on this earth is beyond human words.

He reminds me that the Lord's coming was and is: He does not come alone. This grand presence includes the presences of the Son, the Father, heavenly troops of resurrected ones, the angelic hosts, and with all His saints. Jude 14, Heb. 12:1, Daniel 7, and more. I touched on this a little.

There has been worlds of consternation and confusion gone forth from naming the parousia the second coming of Christ instead of the "Presence of Christ." Now beloved, we are conscious of the indwelling Christ in Holy Spirit. Jesus said, " I go away, and come again unto you." John. 14:28. That finalized all that Jesus had been teaching them of His going away and return in Spirit essence making believers His holy temple (Greek - naos - living temple).

That prediction came to pass precisely as Jesus said it would, on the Day of Pentecost. Then 37 years and a half years after that in 70 AD Jerusalem was razed flat to the ground and the Old dispensation laws, rituals, sacrificial system was abolished. 2 Cor. 3:11, 13, Rom.10:4, Eph. 3:15. Jesus often reiterates His return was to be while some of His disciples were yet living. Matt. 16: 27, 28. Two thousand years later preachers who graduated from notorious seminaries teach that Jesus is coming in the near future is pre-trib, mid-trib, or post-trib. One error on that is they look for Him to appear in a physical body. Another is they adamantly declare is a "seven year tribulation."

The word tribulation word in Greek (thilipsis) 2347 in Strong's Concordance is translated: afflicted, anguish, burdened, persecuted, tribulation, trouble. This word (thilipsis) is translated seven or eight times in these named words in the NT. But Jesus was speaking of the siege on Jerusalem and its destruction in 70 AD. And it came to pass after Christ's parousia as Holy Spirit. Jesus predicted that the apostle John would be living when He returned. John.21.22, 23. "Jesus said to him (Peter), if I will that he tarry till I come, what is it to you? Follow me." Then there were rumours that John would not die. Yet John tells us that Jesus said not to him, "he shall not die, but if I will that he tarry till I come, what is it to you?" I have heard people in the past say that John the apostle is probably walking around on earth now, for Jesus said he would not die. Well, what can I say?

Authors of the NT looked for a more classical coming - appearing, manifestation of Christ. Rom. 8:19-23. These texts speaks of the glorious unveiling of the sons of God, a major manifestation of Christ and the knowledge of the glory of the Lord filling the earth as the waters cover the sea. Habakkuk 2:14, Isaiah 11:19.

This coming is dynamic, moving, advancing onward, outward and inward, upward knowing no confining barriers. This grand presence include the presences of the Son, the Father, the resurrected saints, the spirits of just men made perfect. 1 Thess. 2:19, 3:13, 2 Thess. 1:7-10. I reiterate, the Lord's vastness includes the heavenly beings clothed in the righteousness of the King of kings and Lord of lords. He will reveal this grand New Day to you in your own way as you are desiring to be caught up into His Now Presence! We forecasters of truth divine are actually experiencing openly and secretly our once laughed at forecasts!

Beloved, invisible trumpets of silver are sounding these marvellous truths to all nations. it is essential that we receive these rapturous realities first hand, as Paul did! Gal. 1: 11, 15. Father is revealing the fullness of His all-ness into our spirit, so stay with me. I have had some real set backs recently. But they are for the glory and honor of Father, and my maturing under "affliction." Say, that is one of the words translated "tribulation," (thilipsis). Paul said, "Through much tribulation we must enter the kingdom of God."

This will be continued. Love and hugs,
