Unthought Thoughts
By Winslow Parker
Vitamin C was discovered in 1937 by Albert Szent-Gyorgyi, a Hungarian biochemist. For that, he received the Nobel Prize. Reminiscing about his discoveries, he said, "Discovery is seeing what has seen but think what nobody else has thought." How true. The great minds of science, Newton, Plank, Maxwell, Galileo, Einstein, all thought about the world differently from others. They saw a problem from a new angle, an interesting phenomenon from a different perspective. They found, in the ordinary, the extraordinary. Artists and sculptors see beauty in the mundane. Poets and musicians hear words and sounds in new ways. These, the gifted among us, are bright candles lighting the way into new, making useful and beautiful that which was obscure. They are channels of inspiration to those of us who live in the humdrum. We honor them, envy them and profit by their insights and discoveries. They are our heroes.
In Jesus, you are extraordinary, a member of the elite class who peer over the wall into the infinite, who walk beside the Spirit of wisdom and knowledge of all things. You are blessed and you bless by being who you are, by living your ordinary life among the rest of us ordinaries. Give thanks and praise to the Father of us all, for you are more than what meets your eye every morning in the mirror. You are a child of the King.
